Hi everyone!
I've been watching this MARVELOUS community since may this year.
It's my favorite community both of qualified camino information and English materials.
(Thanks to administrators!)

My name is Jihyeong Yu, from Seoul, South Korea.
I started walking Camino Frances(from SJPP) in 23/June,
and arrived Santiago de Compostela in 31/July.
also walked Finisterre in 5 days.

Recently, I finished my writings of the camino on my blog(unfortunately, in Korean).
I felt like walking again the camino when I wrote my essay.

Now I'm planning my NEXT CAMINO via del norte in 2009(or later, or via de la plata, quite not sure).
Well, that's all.
Just want to say BUEN CAMINO and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the pilgrims in here:)

Hasta Luego!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hello Jihyeong,
I met two Koreans during my Camino! Both were in Larrasoaña...very early on (around the 20 of July). I saw one of them again in Pamplona - he was trying to get the Camino completed in a short time (planning to walk 40 km per day!) in order to get to the end to meet a flight deadline. I never knew if he made it or not!

Bienvenido to the forum... and Happy New Year.
Buen Camino,

The numbers of pilgrims from Korea are growing.
The stats for 2006 were as follows:
North Korea 18 (4 in 2005)
South Korea 69 (24 in 2005)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

I met two as well - one male, and one female. The male I met early on, and the female stayed at the Rabanal monastery the same time I was there.

Since we walked at the same time, I wonder if they were the same Koreans? Small Camino!

Actually during my camino, I met over 10 pilgrims from South Korea. I was a quite slow walker so I couldn't meet him on my way. But It's nice to hear about it.

What a surprise  ! I also stayed at Mater Salutis in Rabanal 4 days, mid in July.
I don't know when you're there, but It's really true that what a small camino!
(or I think we, asians are quite easily found on the way by our *small* different appearances.)

Thanks for sharing the story, Deirdre and Vinotinto.

Hi Jihyeong,
Happy New Year and welcome to the Forum. :)
In 2007 we ( my wife and I) worked as hospitaleros at Rabanal and were pleasantly surprised when so many pilgrims from South Korea were coming through :D We don't normally come into contact with people from your country but we found that all were absolutely charming.
We had an amusing situation when we had some time off and drove up to Tomas's refugio at Majarin. As we arrived he was welcoming pilgrims and praying so we stayed in the car to avoid disturbance. When Tomas had finished we got out of the car and suddenly found some of 'our' pilgrims heading towards us with great delight and pressing money onto us. The explanation was that when leaving the refugio they had forgotten to leave the donativo and had decided to post it from home - our meeting had made things so much more simple.
Enjoy your planning and Buen Camino,
Brendan
