Hello to everybody, I just discovered that you are supposed to maké an introduction....I really don´t know why I didn´t see this before....anyway I haven´t participated a lot so far.
I live in Stockholm and plan to start my first Camino September 5, so I have less than a month to wait!!!! Unfortunately I have to return on the 14th so this is only starting, I am already making plans to go back in May or June next year and walk the rest of the Camino (francés).
So good luck to all of us and buen camino.

Hi Kelly, I will start from SJPP the 5th so what I am considering now is; should I book a bed in Orisson before I leave or shall I give it a try and see if I manage to Roncevalles in one day?...and then perhaps I get to Orisson and find there is no bed for me if I need one...I'll think about it.
I have noticed a lot of people will do the camino in September but so far nobody who starts the same day but I am sure there will be several of us.
And concering the thread with the language issue....I am fluent in Spanish so if you need any help on the camino and there's a Swdish lady around just see if she's called Pepa... :D
I hope to meet you all, buen camino.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Well, I don't know about waiting. I had booked at Orisson, but now reading about how everyone says they got there in 4 hours or less (taking their time), I'm wondering if it's worth it to sit around all day instead of pushing on? The albergue in Roncesvalles doesn't open until 4 anyway. So I'm still undecided about it. I start 9/1 so will only be a couple of days ahead of you, so we might come across each other. :)

Yes I know, I thought so too, about what I'll do during the rest of the day, because I heard there is not even a village to visit. But then again, even if I do manage these 4 hours I still have to manage another 4-6 before Roncevalles and in my case I think it'll be too much.
You'll be four days ahead of me, if you get a chance to tell me how it was I'd appreciate that.

There isn't anything to see or do at Orisson...... except enjoy an absolutely magnificent view from the terrace if it is a nice day like we struck. As we had already walked a long way in France, we gladly treated this like another rest day, drinking lemonade etc on the deck, chatting to the passers-by. Great!

If you are only going as far as Orisson on Day 1, you could spend some more time at the bottom exploring SJPP before you leave.

It is not only the 'shortness' of the day to Orisson you need to consider, it is the length of what comes after it. I was quite fit when I climbed up to Orisson, as I had been walking already for weeks in France. But the next day when I climbed up the rest of the way, and then down to Roncesvalles, I found I was surprisingly tired.
