A question for Irish readers......

I've heard that if you visit the Guinness Brewery at St. James Gate in Dublin that they will stamp your credential. Can anyone tell me if this is true? Have you done it? I'd hate to make the trip up there (from Cork) and just get blank looks from the good people at Guinness.

What's the deal? Do you just walk into the Guinness Storehouse place and ask (I've never been!)

Just for completeness (I'm pedantic, I know) I'd like to get the stamp at St. James Gate before I leave. I'll be getting the credential itself from the Irish Confaternity.

Can you also get a stamp from St. James' church nearby?

Your advice would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Max,

While not irish, my experience indicates that there are many places who will happily provide sellos to record your journey. My diverse collection of sellos came from churches, a police station, municipal offices, bars, hotels, an order of nuns and a museum.

I had two credentials an unofficial one that I made before leaving Australia. The first sello was from the local St James Church in the town where I live. The clerk in the Pilgrim's Office was most impressed that I had collected sellos from churches along my journey from my home town in Australia, through London, Porto and onto Tui where I collected an official credential that recorded my journey on the Camino Portugues.

Buen camino.

I just rang up to enquire and an obliging lady just said to post a SAE and €10 it was returned to me about five days later. Unfortunately it is still on my desk as I got delayed due to illness. You can also get the credencia stamped in your local parish just to help autenticity.
You do not need to travel to collect it.
I was told by another ex pilgrim that it had a certain novelty value due to its different layout as many had not seen it before.
Still strugglin
