Fellow members of the Forum who are interested in doing the Portuguese Caminho (or even any other Caminho).

Portugal has been strike out in the last couple of weeks, for a large number of forest fires. 3 volunteer fire-fighters have already died, and lots of hectares of forest have been burned down to ashes.

What I’m asking here, it’s for the people to be very careful with what they do, when walking through out forest areas.

Don’t throw any trash to the ground. Don’t make fires. If you smoke, make sure you use water or sand, before you throw your cigarette to the floor. If you see anything strange, regarding people moving in the wood’s, if you sense the smell of burning forest or if you see smoke in the woods, please contact 112, the national emergency number or 117, a number that exists for the purpose of Forest Fires.

I also warn you, that right now, there is a fire active in Galiza, that already passed the border to Portugal.

Best Regards
Diogo

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you for the reminder Diogo. We also have very severe fires here in California, sadly with the loss of many firefighters. Sometimes the fires begin from lightning strikes but all to often due to a careless passer by. The reminder is good for us all.
Blessings,
Karen

You had to close Yosemite National Park this weak I think. And I have seen the news about that company that died on the field. I respect a lot the American forest fire fighters, because of the way of life, and the dangers that they take.

The problem with the fires in Portugal, it's that most of them start for mistakes and by criminal hands. And the problem is that the Government and the authorities don't do enough! Really, they don't! There is a force from the Republican Guard, that it's supposed to patrol the forest areas, but I've walked through forest's in many times of the year, and I haven't seen one unit doing patrol! I usually see their cars inside cities, where they are not in need.

It's so stupid, that it must be the citizens, doing volunteer work that should take care of the forests and woods.

Best Regards
Diogo
