Le Puy - SdC, Podiensis, Frances, Invierno 2012-23
I'm taking this slowly (I started in Le Puy in 2012) and I'll be picking up where I left off in June '17 - in 37 degrees! Hoping it will be cooler in April.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Splendid walk! Very much worth taking slowly!

Do not neglect the Church of the Assumption in Navarette, or Sta. Maria la Real in Najera, or the Monasterio de Las Huelgas in Burgos. Stunners, every one!

Thanks for the tips - one reason this trip has taken so long has been the number of beautiful medieval churches in France, many of which would repay at least half a day to explore. Loved the church in Los Arcos. Visited Burgos cathedral some years ago - surprised to see a memorial to Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera incised on the outside.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I've seen other memorials to Jose Antonio along the way, but missed this one in Burgos. Just the sort of thing I love to stumble across! Thanks for the tip.

Fascinating - thanks for the tip. I've got a short day after Najera, so I'll try to find the time to visit

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

You need lots of time to enjoy the medioeval art in that area. Sto sepulcro in Torres del Río, Sta Maria de la Asunción in Viana, Sta María de Palacio and San Bartolomé in Logroño.... Sta María de Arcos in Tricio (Praerromanic). Yo can take the variant to San Millán de la Cogolla Suso (visigotic and preromanic) and Yuso monasteries......

Ah yes! San Bartolome in Logrono! The tympanum and and jambs are favorites! Especially the depiction of the saint, having been skinned alive by Astiages, throwing his skin over his shoulder and marching off, leaving Astiges to tear his clothes in rage! What's not to like?! :)

Most peregrinos neglect Logrono. Most, I'm certain, never check out San Bartolome, or the Michelangelo hanging in the Cathedral..... I don't understand it. There's more to Logrono than rioja and tapas!
