A truce at Orbenlle

Yes, the locals are still crossing out arrows, painting new ones to their bar, vandalising Camino panels and signage etc.

However, when you reach Bar Laguna (following the arrows that are not crossed out/painted over; and the milestones that are left), you can avoid the HORRIBLE As Gándaras industrial estate and loop around (following the arrows) to the much nicer route to O Porriño.

At least the locals are not boycotting this option, and the signage is clear once you get to Bar Laguna.

And yes, if you are brave enough and want to avoid the extra hill and kilometre (and do not feel like a coffee at Bar Laguna), then cut across to Restaurante Orbenlle (now closed) and head down into the woods (see map).

Buen Camino

*There is another place where you can make a left just after the paintings (when you see them you will know what I'm talking about) and before Restaurante Orbenlle; but would require a leap of faith as it looks like a war zone because of the crossed out and painted over arrows. ORBENLLE.jpg

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I don't like businesses that manipulate the way markers, and I will avoid patronising them if at all possible. It's not hard to make a sign that says 'bar 200m this way', or whatever, with a few pictures of tasty food on.

Having experienced the horrendous industrisl zone, next time and if I am desperate for food and drink, I would visit the bar (the food was good, the service helpful) and track back to the "war zone" to take the forest trail.

Thank you for the information on this and (Notion900) the link you provided !
