We are 3 cousins who will commence the camino in September. We don't really want to walk 30 odd kilometres in a day as we are 10 years older than when we did the French Camino and we were in our 50's then. Is there any accommodation about ½ way between Parque Nacoes and Vilagranca de Xira. Or are we better off getting a train from Alverca do Ribatijo. Also any suggestions for other 30km days. thanks Lynne

You could walk from Parque das Nações to Vilafranca de Xira (about 20 kms) and take the train from there to Azambuja to avoid the walk the N3 road on the hardshoulder.
Or skip the whole track .

Bom caminho

Hi, I’ve twice stayed at Verdelha de Baixo, about 1.5 kms off route, just before Alverca do Ribatejo. There are several places that offer rooms. If the owner is not there, just phone the number on the door, and they will come and open up. The last time I got a lovely single room with ensuite bathroom for 17.50 euros, so it will be even cheaper if you are 3 sharing a room. You walk past a big shopping complex just before you get there, so you can buy food, or get take-aways, or eat at a restaurant that evening. Jill
