Thanks for the info we will arrive about 5 pm so hope the pilgrims office is still open. Any other tips you can pass regarding first days walk ect .....If you get to the pilgrims office by 1630, get registered, and your credential stamped, they will be able to offer you a bed in the municipal albergue for 8 euros, and they will physically walk with you to assign you to your bed.
Hi Dave,
You might want to read through some threads. A lot of Pilgrims suggest taking it easy the first day or two. Maybe stopping in Valcarlos on the lower route or Orrison on the high route (you do need reservations there.) But, I would say start early to give yourself plenty of time to get to wherever you end up. I am NOT speaking from experience, but just from reading the threads and guidebooks. I go May/June 2014.
Buen Camino!!
