Advice on shortened routes

I will only have 1 week to walk, but want to end in Santiago de Compostela. I'm a first timer, 50 ish but in decent shape, so thinking 20 km/day (?). For this first time, I will be walking with a daypack and staying in hostels or whatever is available. I'm leaning towards the Portuguese route but am open to other suggestions. If you have some, please include where my starting point might be. Thanks in advance. SA

Just remember, if you want a Compostela you must walk last 100kms of any route.

I’ve just finished my first Camino, from St Jean Pied de Port (799 k which took us 35 days) I’m in my late 50s and came prepared. We are considering walking the Portuguese route in the future - starting in Porto and walking through Santiago then onto Finisterre and Muxia. I was pleased to have begun my Camino’s with one that is well supported. From Sarria to Santiago is a lovely walk and I think starting more slowly at 20 k a day is a great idea. The only other comment is to think through carefully the season you walk in - in my view, and talking with others, weather conditions can have a big impact on how enjoyable your experience is. I agree - the Sarria to Santiago leg of the Frances is lovely. I know that some Camino veterans don't like this part because more people join you - but we found this leg lovely...and met many of our FAVORITE people in the last leg.

I would try either from Sarria (French way), Ourense (Plata), Monforte de Lemos (Invierno) or Baiona(Coastal).
