Air Canada now "under watch" and Iberia strikes Monday & Fri

Canada's national airline, Air Canada, is now "under watch" in the travel industry due to it's wildcat baggage handlers strikes that might spread to other areas. This morning when I tried to buy Trip Insurance I was advised that if my trip cancellation was in any way connected with Air Canada's failure to deliver service, my insurance would not cover me. If arrangements had been made through a registered Canadian travel agency I would be covered, however, I've yet to see or find any travel company here that makes these arrangements (tours, self-guided walks). I booked a self-guided walk (luggage transfer and accommodations) through an agency in Dublin and will have to see what protection I might have through them.

Since information from different sources vary and should be confirmed, there is little on the AC strike possibilities, those travelling Air Canada should check their reservations since airlines do not advise quickly. Come to think of it, SpanAir never advised of its collapse, and I only learned of Iberia's imminent Friday & Monday strikes through Ivar on this forum. All three airlines at this time affect my travel. This takes hours of followup but better now than later.

Regarding the Iberia strike I have posted this earlier today:
traveling-to-from-the-camino/topic13351.html#p90080

SpanAir went out of business, Iberia is a solid (as far as I know) company... the problem is that their pilots are used to high salaries and in these "low-cost"-days, they are trying to hang on to old times. Ibieria has just created a Low Cost company, and the old pilots feel threatened.

The link above has a quote from Iberia today... I think this will not be as dramatic as it sounds... a pain in the &(%(&$/% maybe, but people will be getting to their destinations.

Greetings from Santiago,
Ivar

I knew you had given us the heads up on the Iberia strikes so I mentioned it in case others might have missed it (as I have done from time tot ime). It seems like an impossible situation since every time I find an answer to one flight, there is a problem with another.

Well I'll get there some time. A great forum with helpful info. Thanks.
