No, no, it's only a selective Alzheimer problem: you don't remember you said it...Problem with us is that age is creeping up very, very fast!
I love it that you are 'Ever the Optimist Al".....safe journey and hope all will be well for you when you leave to begin your next journey.,.....I had been back 19 days before giving in and booking for another quick fix.
Starting from Ferrol on September 3rd for Camino Ingles.
Speak for yourself, I say the opposite! (so far)Well done Al and the 'tio's'! We keep saying, 'this is definitely the last one' .......but somehow, we keep falling for one more! Problem with us is that age is creeping up very, very fast!
The green that surrounds me just now is not because I'm Irish, just jealous.God speed.I had been back 19 days before giving in and booking for another quick fix.

I started a thread to see interest. Please comment on there so others can see who is interested. We can start planning something after a few weeks of people registering their intent?I'm up for meeting in Brum
I'm up for meeting in Brum
I am just being curious here Al and Andy....but, where is Brum please. I have been reading a book about 'the Hidden World' by William Horwood (he wrote the Duncton Wood Series of books) and a lot of this is set in 'Brum'.......I realise that this question is right off the subject but thought I would be bold and ask anyway.....Smiles from Grey/Wet Western Australia..Oh, you are so lucky Joe! Not having to put up with a Wednesfield lad! It has been suggested that some Midlanders might like to meet up, maybe in Brum. Interested?
Thanky0u....Dialect word for Birmingham (Brummagem)
Okay, I will bite....What is a "Yam Yam" pleaseJust to confuse you more he is a "Brummie" and I am a "YamYam"!
Yep.....very confused but laughing as well. Now, as you probably guessed....I have another question...What is 'Black Country' ? If ever I get to travel over your way, I will have to call on you for 'lessons in local conversation' so that I will be well equipped to understand what is being said.....In the local "Black Country" dialect people say "Yam" instead of "You are". As in "Yam a gud un yo om" meaning "You are a good person". Confused enough now?
The Black Country is the area immediately north of Birmingham in England's West midlands, which was described thus because of the enormous amount of black smoke hanging over the whole place because of the large number of iron foundries, smelting businesses and other manufacturing works which sprung up at the start of the industrial revolution in England in the late 1700's. The whole of the black country and Birmingham indeed, kick-started worldwide industrialisation and was referred to as the workplace of the world So,are we proud? I,m not too sure!! Anyway todays lecture over-back to the Camino. ( B.T.W. both places still have their own distinctive accents-but especially the Black Country-Is'nt that right Al?)You won't understand him. Al must be using translation software

I know that we have diverted somewhat from the Camino, but it has been a VERY interesting diversion --- Thank you for the small history lesson. Cheers.
Fair call AlOK so I feel sympathy for you Maggie. As I do for all who have such a long and expensive journey to enjoy what is on my doorstep. But the same obstacles are there for us Poms who want to visit the Antipodes? No I won't carry the weight in my backpack but just for you I will raise a glass when I get there. How's that?
Yo mean ay that rite do yo? Enough! Sorry! Joe is right though. Each town in the area has it's own variation and if you meet someone from only five miles away it can be difficult to understand them as as well s different accents they have different colloquialisms. Also people are fiercely proud of which village/town they were born in and when prompted will readily drop into their version.-Is'nt that right Al?)
Hi Al I hope your trip is full of friends I am only 13 months away from my next visit starting in Barcelona, time will go quickly as I have so much investigation to do as the only guide books are in Spanish si I need to scan a lot and then run them through a translator but it make my time go quickly, Buen caminoI had been back 19 days before giving in and booking for another quick fix.
