If some people land in Bilbao and then bus to Longrono for the Frances they need albergue in Bilbao. Is this allowed?

Can you recommend albergues in Bilbao?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Check this site, type Bilbao in the blank and pick one. If you have never been to Bilbao, give it a day - don't just hop the first train and go, the Guggenheim Museum should be visited day and night best view from the nearby traffic bridge- no need to go in, the nearby Bilbao Fine Arts Museum Museo Plaza, 2 is also very good, do go in. The tram is very efficient and will take you anywhere else. Bilbao has become a fine city.

Many of the hostels in Bilbao are open to anyone, including those in town for a good party. If you don't mind not sleeping, they won't mind taking your money.

As for staying in pilgrim only albergues, I suppose you can alway pretend you are walking from Bilbao the next day. But would, you feel ok taking a bed from someone who has been walking for days and will be walking the next one?

I stayed two nights at the Youth Hostel Akelarre in Bilbao last October. Well run, clean and convenient, and is across the river/bridge from the bus terminal. about 20 minutes walk to the old town. I paid 18 euros a night, breakfast included and you don't need to be a pilgrim but it is right on the camino exiting Bilbao.
Buen Camino!

I stayed at Pil Pil. Very good. Tram outside the front door.
You'll find it on Hostelworld site. Link is in scruffy's post above.

Here is that hostel's Gronze page. Unfortunately it is marked closed.

However this one seems open as do others on the Bilbao page.

Good luck and Buen camino.

Guides that will let you complete the journey your way.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I see the pilgrim Hostel outside of Bilbao has a sign temporarily close. Come what may if closed well it's off to Portugalete.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

greetings after reflection I have decided to avoid Camino del Norte. Many of the hostels seem closed and the prices in Pensions are exuberant and not worth my while will go to Pamplona and hopefully able to bus to Roncesvalles and start from there.
