Hi all.

I am part of a small group who are thinking of walking the "Norte" in May '13, having met on the "Via del la Plata" this year.
In the process of gathering info we have come across a blog "hikingthecamino.com" that suggests that albergues along the "Norte" only open in summer ie July and August, especially in the Basque country. Is this correct ? If you walked the route in May this year can you please advise, plus any other info particular to this camino.

Thanks

Hi George,
I cannot answer your question re the Basque country but from Santander onwards the albergues are certainly open from the end of April. Don't forget that May Day is a big public holiday and all the tourist type places on the north coast are certainly open for that. There may be some 'extra' albergues that only open for the busy season but you will find plenty of places to stay in May!

Blessings on your preparation1
