Time of past OR future Camino
October/November (2016)
I plan to walk the Camino Frances from October 6 through November. Will I have problems with finding open places to sleep during the cooler months. Do Alburgues close for the winter months? Thank you for your help.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The pilgrim office in SJPdP provided a sheet of association albergues that included a relatively reliable list of dates of operation.

The main problem is that you don't end up walking further as planned because there isn't any albergue open. Usually that means staying in the larger towns ... and sometimes that means deliberately taking a shorter day.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Do Alburgues close for the winter months?
I have walked 3 times in October-November. Yes, by November many places are closed, and by late November I started to be cautious about "planning" to stop in small in-between towns, especially since the days were getting quite short and I didn't want to be stuck in the dark. However, enough places are open in enough villages to accommodate all the pilgrims without great distances between. That is an excellent time of year to walk.

I don't know about camping - if you search on the forum for camping threads, you'll find lots of advice.
