Hi Kelly,
Welcome to the forum, I hope you have a great pilgrimage, and now will you now pardon my ignorance, (and my laziness at not getting the atlas out), and tell me where Kauai is and how wonderful it is to be there!

Buen camino,
Brendan

Kauai

Aloha Brendan,
Kauai is the furthest NW island of Hawaii...it is known as The Garden Island...having the most rainfall, it is the most green and I believe, the most beautiful!
Mahalo (thank you) for your kind wishes and welcome.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Aloha Kelly,
Mahalo for your reply and educating me. I thought you were out in the middle ofthe ocean, but its a big ocean! Your home seems to be beautiful and perhaps hard to leave. From what you say it sound like heaven - Garden of Eden.
However, when you start your pilgrimage, a warm welcome to Europe! We have one or two beautiful places also. But, just getting over to Europe and the pilgrim route seems to me like a pilgrimage in itself.
I know that Europeans go around the world to places like Machu Pichu, etc ( I'm not suggesting others don't travel) but I'm always amazed that pilgrims come from all over the world to walk to Santiago. Some say that the Camino has something different about it, probably it has, but how is this communicated to others, like yourself, so many thousands of miles away?
Hope you have a great Camino,
Best wishes (what's that in your language?)
Brendan

Hi Kelly! My name is Kelly too! :D I'll be back on the Camino in mid-September too, but further down the road from you. If you are on the Camino on Sept 12, please consider participating in the "Day in the Life of the Camino Frances" project. I have a few posts on that in the Camino Frances forum. If that's your travel day, you can still participate! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me

Aloha Brendan,
I'll be stopping over in LA and NY to visit with friends and family on my way to France, it should help me with jet lag too! I agree with you, getting to the "start" point will be a pilgrimage in and of itself. :)

My favorite author, Paulo Coelho, first introduced me to the Camino through his writings. My decision to follow the Camino at this particular time is simply the result of following my heart.

Best wishes = Pomaika'i :D

Day in the life...

Aloha Kelly!
On Sept. 12, I will be departing NYC for Paris, so I will try to contribute if possible. I'm not sure when I will be near a computer to download a photo...
Pomaika'i on your journey...perhaps we will meet in person?
:D Kelly

Hey Kelly! Thanks for participating! Don't worry about sending your photo right away! I won't be home until Sept 28 & proabably comatose until the second week of October. :) You can send your photo(s) when you get home.

I'll be starting at Logrono on Sept 11 (actually arriving on Sept 10) & I've got 16 days to get to Leon. So we probably will meet somewhere. If you see an Aarn backpack (blue w/red lettering) that's me. :) If you want a preview of what you're going to be walking through, check out my blog & YouTube video posted there.

Buen Camino!
Kelly
