Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good supportive knee brace I can purchase for my Camino?

My right knee isn't in it's best condition (apparently, I have shattered cartilage. I'm not having any problems with it at the moment) although I want to do everything I can to look after it whilst on my walk.

Thanks again
Love, peace and smile to you all

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Here in the States I go to a local pharmacy store and talk with the pharmacist about the diff possibilities. I take 2, just in case. I've found the quality to be better here than the ones I've seen in Spain. Best, xm 8)

I went to my physiotherapist who chose the right one for my condition and the right size.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Good you did this prior to walking. I'm in the process of having my feet checked! Best, xm 8)

Hi All,

Magnara that's great advice! I'll book into see a physio, who can help me select a good support brace for my knee.

Xm like you, I've booked in to see a podaitrist as well. One of the guys from the adventure stores, highly recommended this. It may require me to wear orthopedics, if this helps out all the better.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the advice.

Love, light and smiles to you both

I wear a McDavid hinged knee brace (not all the time)
find at http://www.firstaid4sport.co.uk/Product ... 0&CatID2=0

My knee was ripped open in a trauma a long time ago, then sort of stuffed back together. The thing about the hinged brace is that it keeps the knee tracking linearly - just doesn't allow those sideways and other movements that stress the joint so. A really top brace. The only problem for me was that on truly rough ground, because it didn't allow my knee to flex sideways, I sometimes stumbled - but then - my knee kept in good condition.
Ached, certainly - a brace isn't a cure after all.

Physio (though I prefer osteopaths) is good and you really do need to look at yourself naked in front of a full length mirror - score a gold star if you are aligned properly, usually you will find tilted pelvis and/or shoulders dropping down one side, with slightly twisted spine - not surprising the lower levels get problems! A good podiatrist can offer specific shoe inserts that will straighten you up - amazing (though I've never tried it - and my problems aren't caused by normal wear and tear or athletic injury).

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
