We are a couple in our mid sixties walked the le Puy route to Finisterre in 2005 and found it great. We are now keen to do another route and are thnking of the Arles Route. How difficoult is this and in particular what is th situation with accomadation ( plan to do it in Sept). How long are the stages as prefer stages to be not more than about 30km. Our has any one got a better suggestion. Will have about 5 weeks available this year Tricia :)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Hi hitchen,

I am not too familiar with this route, but after some "googling" I found a good description on the Confraternity of St. James site. You may have seen this yourself, but I thought I would post the link in any case:

http://www.csj.org.uk/route-arles.htm

It does mention that:

the length of each stage being dictated by the availability of accommodation

..so it seems like there might be some stretches without a lot of places to sleep.

Read the section on "Terrain" for a description on how hard the route is.

Buen Camino!
