I've been back now for two weeks. I meant to post earlier but have been entertaining doing the NYC thing with a few friends from Spain that have been staying with me.
First off I'm sorry I didn't get to visit the Pilgrim house. My last night in Galicia was rushed. I will definitely stop by next year.
I only walked from Leon to Santiago but I have the Norte route in the crosshairs for next year.
What I learned?
I own too much stuff. Over the next few months half of it is either going to charity or in the garbage.
I want to get in much better shape. The hills unexpectedly challenged me.
Next time they won't.
I want to see more of Europe. Spain will always be my home base in Europe because of my friends that live there but in the coming years my trips to Spain will include hops over to England, Scotland, France, Germany etc.
At times the food was great, other times it was only so so.
I'm not a big fan of the same pilgrim menu del dia day after day.
Also I doubt I will ever walk again in August. Too many tourists.
Overall it was a wonderful, hopefully life changing experience.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I did my 2nd Camino this year (Portuguese way from Lisbon). If you will visit Europe of many wonderful places, could I suggest you do the touristy stuff first and then the walk.... Doing the Protuguese way to Muxia and then touristy things is quite the unique experiences... but in my humble opinion, I would have preferred to be tourist first then a pilgrim. . . Best of journies in life... Buen Camino/Bom Caminho~

I was in Spain in 2015 and did the tourist thing. Some things were cool but overall not my cup of tea

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I liked doing the tourist thing after I walked, because it would have been too much of a shock to my system to go home immediately after walking the Camino. When I'm a tourist I walk a lot more than I do in my regular life, so it's a good transition.

@Jersey --thanks for checking in! You "only" walked from Leon?? hey, that's a long walk. Most folks only walk to the kitchen, walk to work, walk in the park. Reality check!

That walk has a lot of inclines and declines, and I'm sure you are in better shape for having done it. If you can, try to keep the momentum going, although I know that winters in NY can be really snowy and cold. Get thee to a gym and become a gym rat!

Glad to have heard back from you :)

I don't mind doing the tourist thing. I just prefer to do it with less tourists around. Kinda like Yogi Berra said " No one goes there anymore - it's too crowded " lol
After I finished the Camino I spent another month in Spain.
I was in Madrid, Valencia, Cullera, A Coruna, Cangas, a day in Portugal, a few towns I don't remember there names and back to Santiago.
Except for Madrid every other place was crowded with people.
Spain pretty much takes the month of August off of work lol

I spent three nights in A Coruña before heading back to Madrid. I thought that it was the perfect size city - big enough to have things to do, but not too many choices to be overwhelming. And very nice beaches. I especially loved the walkway along the sea all around the city. The only thing that I missed was a companion to eat dinner with at the wonderful restaurants.

Going back to May 2016 I've spent 3 months in Spain.
Coruna by far is my favorite. It's the only town where I truly feel I'm home. (I am biased since one of my best friends lives there)
The walkway is fantastic

Glad to hear you had a good time. I believe we all "own too much stuff". I recently moved and was unpacking the "stuff" and said the same thing. Check out the movie/documentary/video. "The minimalist". This really opened my eyes as to how much "stuff" we really don't need.

Any idea what channel or platform I can find the movie on?
Thanks

I want to say I watched it on Netflix, but I could be wrong since it was a while ago. Check it on Google.
