Currently my flight from US is into Barcelona. Any suggestions for the best route to travel to SJP, either by train or flight. If difficult I can change my flight into Paris or Madrid.
Thanks confused on routes. CarolT

Hi Carol, I leave 20/8, flying into Barcelona, staying & train to Pamplona next morn & bus to SJPP-fingers crossed, going solo, buen Camino

Any suggestions for the best route to travel to SJP, either by train or flight.

You can take a train from downtown Barcelona (Sants train station) to Pamplona with RENFE (www.renfe.com). Alternatively, you can take a bus from downtown Barcelona to Pamplona with www.monbus.es (Barcelona Sants is easier to reach from the airport than Barcelona Nord). Once in Pamplona, Alsa (www.alsa.es/en) has seasonal bus service to SJPP. In order to reach Sants from the airport, the Cercanías train service would be the easiest. I don't know the arrival terminal of your flight but you may need to change terminals to take the Cercanías train. Alternatively, you can get the aerobús (www.aerobusbcn.com) from the airport to the downtown, get off at Plaça Espanya and walk from there till Sants (ask for directions once on the ground).

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Thank you for the details, both that replied. The bus from Pampola was my missing link! CarolT

In addition to train and bus options ...

1. Fly Barcelona to San Sebastian (EAS). San Sebastian Airport is located 3 km from Irun Renfe Station and 5 km from Gare d'Hendaye.

2. SNCF train from Hendaye to Bayonne and SNCF train from Bayonne to SJPdP; Or,

3 a. Renfe train from Irun Renfe to Pamplona; or,

3 b. Renfe Cercanias from Irun Renfe station to San Sebastian Renfe station and ALSA bus from bus station newly relocated beside the train station to Pamplona; and,

3 c. CONDA bus (ALSA schedule) from Pamplona to SJPdP.
