Hola -

Can anyone help with this issue? We walked this wonderful route two years ago from Sevilla to SdC. We have walked several different routes and the VDLP won as the route we would most like to walk again next year. This time we think we'd like to start in Merida (or thereabouts). I've looked at various ways of getting to Merida, and I think I've come up with:

Fly Canada to London - don't ask
Fly London to Lisbon (cheap!) - about 141 Euro
Bus from Lisbon to Merida. - 31 Euro

We had previously thought to take the Eurostar from London to Paris and then the night train to Madrid and then bus to Merida (or somewhere on the VDLP) but that configuration was way more expensive than the one above (but probably more fun and we were loving the idea of seeing Paris once again.)

I'd appreciate any opinions or suggestions you could give me on this tentative plan - we have never started on any route at anywhere other than the "traditional" starting places, and this seems a little stickier.

Thanks.

You could also fly to Sevilla in stead of Lisboa, e.g. with Ryan Air - they have flights to Sevilla from many European cities - and take the bus from Sevilla to Merida.

Hello,
Does anyone know the practicality of getting a bus from Seville to Merida on Easter Sunday? I am looking at now starting my Camino in Merida (due to available time) but would like to start only after attending the Easter mass in Seville Cathedral.

Also, any recommendations on a good place to stay in Seville for a couple of nights recovery from jetlag after a long haul flight from Australia?
