Hi I'm flying Dublin - Biarritz June 1st. arrival time is 14.45. Can anyone recommend best transport to St.Jean, as its Sunday I know my options are limited. All suggestions appreciated
Buen Camino....

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Get 14 Bus to Bayonne Gare only 1 euro, then train to SJPP 10 euro one way, at moment train is down due to landslide on line it has a bus connection but repair is expected in a few weeks.

Buen Camino

Hi there.,
I'm flying in thurs and I contacted Caroline in express burricot. They run a transfer service from Biarritz to SJPDP. I have to enquire about cost but I have requested shared transport to reduce the cost. Worth contacting her otherwise from reading other helpful posts here theres a train service from Bayonne too. Best of luck

Pamplona to SJPD may 25th. Suggestions for getting there??

ALSA provides seasonal bus service through its subsidiary Conda from Pamplona to St Jean Pied de Port. The bus travels via Roncesvalles and Valcarlos. The bus returns to Pamplona after arriving in SJPdP.

The bus stops at the junction of Route d'Arneguy and Route d'Uhart.

At time of writing the bus from Pamplona to SJPdP runs daily 1730 17 March to 30 September 2014 and 1430 1 June to 30 Sept 2014. The schedule is typically updated a month in advance of changes. Use the ALSA international tab and click the 'query without date' button.

Conda

Otherwise go to Bayonne via Irun. There are 4 trains and 3 buses Bayonne to SJPdP most days.

Attention to Ivar and the moderators: This question is like a broken record, week after week from pilgrims arriving in Bayonne. Is there some way to provide a handy link to provide the current transportation information so other members don't have to re-post the same notices day after day. Margaret and Whariwharagi are heroes doing this several times a week.

I agree, with so much information about the Camino this seems to be the most asked question

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The information is posted. Margaret has a lot of posts as do others. I don't know how you would direct people to the information though. No big deal ... I just cut, paste, and tailor it to the question.

I've put it in the following posts.

I Agree Don, another problem I spotted last week while waiting to board my plane from Biarritz, as some English pilgrims got off plane they looked lost not knowing were to go next. I directed them to 14 Bus no one seemed to help! they asked taxi drivers but they were uninterested in carrying more than five as the pilgrims requested.

Biarritz airport gets a lot of business from the Camino maybe a customer care officer with time tables for connections to SJPP or other distinations as planes land, could help the situation ?.

I certainly hope you are not suggesting there is a business opportunity here because in France we seem to ignore the obvious, even when it's shoved in our face.
BTW, I am retired on Social Security and restricted from working in France, so says my long stay visa!

The Biarritz Airport website is quite helpful. It even has an English language page. The website indicates there is an Airport Information desk.

Biarritz Airport handled over 1 million passengers last year. The statistics indicate 30000 people start their walk in SJPdP; a drop in the bucket and thats assuming a large percentage travel by way of BIQ.

Having driven a taxi I can tell you that a taxi driver is not earning cash if the meter is not running. He's not a tourist information booth on wheels.

It pays to be helpful and courteous a kind word goes a long way not everything revolves around money

That is an interesting statistic, the vas majority of those million visitors come here in July and August to enjoy our beaches when our population nearly triples. Of the 30000 pilgrims who start in SJPdP I would imagine the majority of them come by rail and not by plane.
