Hi Guys,
It's been a while since i have been on the site under another username, lost my other password etc so had to log in again. Some of you had already answered this question for me but unfortunately i cannot retrieve those messages.
Im going to start my walk from Palmploma in sept, will fly to Bilbao then train to Palmploma.Could someone remind of the train times/prices from Bilbao to Palmploma and stations etc.
Any hints on where to stay in Bilbao overnight and again in Palmploma to see the sights before walking.
One lovely lady pilgrim has in the past answered these questions for me and if she reads this i apoligise for losing yer wondeful guidance.

Thank you.

Hi Duffs/Bernie,

I've spent an extra night in Bilbao in order to see the sights as well. I stayed at the Iturrienea Ostatua pension, which is in a great location and has a little charm. http://www.iturrieneaostatua.com/ Someone I met on the Camino del Norte recommended the Pension Arias, http://www.hostalarias.es/bienvenida, also in a good central location in historic district and a bit cheaper.

There are lots of cheap pensiones in Pamplona (cheap unless you are there during San Fermin), but I usually go to the Hostal Bearan. You can't beat the location, and the owners have always been very nice to us. http://www.hotelsearch.com/hotels/hoste ... qj.es.html And it's across the street from one of my favorite restaurants. http://www.restaurantebaserri.com/ (not too high end, very popular, with a terrific menu del dia that is a little outside the pilgrim range, but well worth it).

And btw, I'm sure that Ivar can get you back on your original account if you PM and explain what happened. Buen camino, Laurie

I stayed in the Youth Hostel in Bilbao.
They offer a discount to Pilgrims and it's a lovely place, up high above the city, with a short walk (pilgrim terms) from the bus station or down to town for touristing.

There is a pilgrim albergue there also.

Bilbao, by the way, has a wonderful Museum of Fine Arts. When we were there, they had an exposition on Murillo's early works which was fabulous! It's very close to the Guggenheim. Also, in Bilbao, across from the bus stations, on a corner, is a nice little telephone business where you can make international calls quite inexpensively.
