Hola! I'm looking for up-to-date information about doing blood work on the Camino. I have chronic illness and if I want to get the tests done in Spain, how would I get the results? Here in Canada there is a website where I can look them up myself and my dr sees the same.

I guess you could ask them to have it send to you through email.
I imagine that Spanish healthcare system works like our Belgian one : your personal e- health file is linked to your unique national insurance number.
Seeing you are not a Spanish citizen you can not get into that system.
But I am sure that every clinic or lab would send results to you through mail. You might have to give some extra proof to ensure them that you are who you tell you are ( privacy regulations) .

That is a question for your medical insurance provider and your doctor. It would, I think, be unlikely that you could obtain testing via Spanish public health provision. You will need to access private care. Your insurer is likely to have “preferred” status providers.

Hoping someone who has recently done blood tests in Spain recently can answer. I've done blood tests in Sweden, and I had to go back to the clinic to get my results.

No it's not about my insurance, it's about how they store and share the data in Spain.

Well, till a fellow forummember ( who was in your situation on the Camino ) comes in to give you accurate and objective information I am convinced that an official website from the Spanish government will be your best source.

Sorry. It tell you how you get results from their service which is what I thought you were asking. If you need accurate professional medical advice, perhaps this forum isn't the best place to ask.

What makes you think that one person’s experience with one provider will mirror your own. You need to identify the provider at the time and location that meets your needs and ask them.

Try doing a Google search for a medical facility that caters to expats, preferably along the Camino, and email them. Or ask on a reddit Spain forum.

My personal experience in France and the US for a test I had to do every 6 weeks where the results took up to two days to evaluate; in France I went to private clinics, much like you see in Spain, paid approximately what a co-pay is in the US and would pick up my results after 24 to 48 hours.

Based on using a public clinic in Arzua: a) bring your insurance card if using the public system. They have no mechanism to accept cash. They don’t really care if they ever get paid, but need to submit something before they see you. B) if using the public system, plan to be in a large town with a hospital, rather than Centro de Salud for a more likely quick turnaround. C) plan to be in a town with a good private Dr and private lab when you need them done, D) perhaps plan in a rest day so that you can get your results, e) ensure that you know how to ask for what you need in Spanish if not using an expat focused service (I needed a lot of my Spanish at the clinic), including how to get results, etc. they can probably email them- I emailed the photo of my insurance card while at the Centro de Salud.
