Bordeaux arrival 19/09/2015. Help for newbie!

Last minute advice needed.

Arriving around 7pm in Bordeaux on Sep 19. Need to get to St Jean Pied de Port or Roncesvalles as quickly as possible.

Presume I would need to train to Bayonne or Biarritz first? Not sure if I could still get there on the evening of Sat Sep 19 either by train or bus?

If I can't go further than Bordeaux on Saturday night, I would be travelling on Sunday morning. Seems transport might be tricky on a Sunday but I have to get as far as possible as quickly as possible on Sunday.

Please help give me advice on how to get to SJPdP? Train, bus or even private transfer?

Thank you

Karl from Canada

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi there
According to the sncf reservations site there are several trains Bordeaux-Bayonne on Sun 20th - earliest at 07.47. Takes about 2 hours.

The earliest onward train/bus combo to St Jean from Bayonne is about 3pm that day as Scruffy1 says. Or you could contact Express Bourricot and ask about a taxi share to get there quicker.

Buen Camino!

You mast take a TGV to Bayonne 1,40 hours and later a train to SJPDP. See tabletimes of SNCF. I think the best option.
I think it is possible to go fron Bayonne to SJPDP by bus.
Another option is to take a train to San Sebastian (Spain) about 2 h 40 min and get a bus to Pamplona About 1 h, see "ALSA" and later take a bus to Roncesvalles Search "Autobuses Artieda" in Google. They dont accept reserves by internet so you must get the ticket at the bus station.
or try to join with other pilgims to take a taxi to Roncesvalles.

I hope that This iformation canbe useful for you.
Buen camino
