Time of past OR future Camino
May 2015
My daughter and I will be walking the Camino in May. She will only be able to accompany me for approximately the first 12 days and then has plans to bus or take a train to Santiago to meet a friend before flying home. I think we should be around Burgos in 12 days. Does this sound about right? Does anyone know the best way for her to get to Santiago? I can't seem to find a train on the renfe site that travels between these 2 towns but I have found a bus. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I believe there is a daily train from the Burgos Rosa de Lima station to Santiago departing at around noon and arriving something like 7 hours later. However, the schedule / availability may have changed. Sorry I can't give a more concrete answer.

Hi , 12 days sounds o.k.,Peter.

One or two trains per day go from Burgos to Santiago in the middle of the day.

There is one daily bus that leaves at 0425, and an evening 1715 bus on Friday and Sunday.

I got this daytime train in 2012.
It is the 99483 LD from Burgos de Lima station at 12.33. It arrives at SDC at 19.41 .i.e. over 7 hours.
2 points to note.
At 3 of the stations on route the train stops for a 15 minute break. A cafe and a place to smoke are on the platform if you want to use them.
I think that the stations were Leon ,Ponferrada and Montforte de Lemos.
Also you will probably have to change trains . At the moment the time table is showing at Montforte de Lemos.
I had to change onto a newly built line for fast trains(different gauge) at Ourense.
Good luck!

Sorry, postscript!
The other train that Falcon mentioned is the overnight Trenhotel.
I don't know much about it except that it was not convenient timewise, about 2a.m. and much dearer.

Thank you for the info. We will check further into the train service. We certainly appreciate your responses

Its too early. Check again closer to dates of travel (usually the schedule is in place a month in advance). You can use the existing schedule (ie Wednesday) to plan as it doesn't usually change much.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
There are many ALSA bus options, but all take more time than RENFE trains.
There is an Intercity train, leaving Burgos at 12:33, arriving Santiago 19:41
Renfe's ALVIA train leaves Burgos at 15:25 and arrives in Santiago at 21:50
Check their websites (click one way and no specific date) for timetables and ticket cost.

Thanks for all of your replies. Am I right in thinking that Burgos being a larger town is where we need to look for her to leave from?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Yes, Burgos is a big city. And the train station (Burgos -Rosa de Lima) is in the suburbs, around 5 km.
There are buses leaving from Plaza España every half hour (this may change in week ends). I believe they are the numbers 25 or 43, but please confirm. They make a lot of stops, evidently.
Or taxis...
