Camino April 2009

My wife and I will be doing our second camino starting on 21 April 2009 at St Jean and this time, finishing at Finisterre. We did not allow for enough time in May 2006 and could not complete the full distance. The first pilgrimage was a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to again make good friends and see and do interesting things. We love the outdoors and coming from South Africa our long walks and climbs in the Drakensberg mountains and Table mountain in Cape Town and conquering Kilimanjaro in Tanzania have all come us to good stead in preparing for the camino. On finishing at Finisterre we intend to travel back to Santiago by bus and will appreciate any information on timetables. Buen Camino to all our fellow peregrinos. :D

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Welkom! Its nice to see another Suid Afrikaner on the Forum!!

Walking to the lighthouse at Fistera is a little like a shorter, less arduous walk to Cape Point. The best thing is the very last stele - the 0.00km marker at the end!

The bus timetable might change in 2009 but for now it is:

Fisterra – Santiago: Mondays – Friday: 07:50 h.11:00 h. 13:45 h.* 16:30 h.*
Saturdays - 10:30 h.* 13:45 h.* 16:00 h. Sundays - 09:45 h.* 16:00 h. 18:00 h.
* Enlace en Baio

It takes about 2.5 hours.

Drukkies van Durban,

Make sure you walk to the lighthouse at Finisterre and watch the sunset over the Atlantic.

Quite simply, it's a beautiful end to the camino.
