We did have a thread about this but I cannot remember its title.
But we were talking about chafing in the groin area...remember?
I mentioned this to a friend and she recommended this stuff:

If you read the comments men say it is great stuff. I don't know why it is only marketed to women...

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Vaseline...like Glide...can cause a problem rather than prevent it. And it definitely will not help if the problem already exists.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Hi. Use baby cream. Its Ok to me. I usually use BIOPEL or BALSAMO BEBE, Easy to find in any spanish farmacia.

double ditto on good old, plain old Vaseline petroleum jelly....
have used it for years to prevent blisters on my feet and chafing on my 6 o'clock....
it also has healing properties and helped the rash go away the times I have gotten chafed, both on the Camino and from running
if you are on the Camino and get chafed, stop in a farmicia and they can hook you up with a tube of petroleum jelly pretty cheap

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

So I asked a friend that does marathons and extra-long distance running. He swears by a product called "wet" and all of his running companions use it with excellent results. They rub it on their feet, and all other areas that chafe. On training walks I have used it and it works exceptionally well - better, for me, than glide or Vaseline. It is in the pharmacy in the women's section. NOTE: It is not water-soluable (won't wash off with just water) so you will need soap and water for clean up. SO theoretically if you put it on your feet, and stopped on the Camino to soak your feet, it wouldn't wash off.

Vaseline. Been using it for yeasr, never failed. Effective, cheap and readily available.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I am glad Vaseline works for so many - but there is a reason it isn't recommended. It can actually cause the painful blisters you get from chafing - and if blisters are there it traps the dirt and bacteria. Which is why you don't use it for diaper rash. This stuff is a combination of diaper rash ointment and body glide.

As i said, been using it for years, never had anything but a great result.
The key to any condition is prevention, use it before venturing out for the day, same for blisters, prepare to prevent them.
