Camino coastal

Time of past OR future Camino
Portuguese coastal litoral from Porto
Good morning.
I’m walking the Camino Portuguese coastal/litoral walk in June with my young niece.
We are planning on doing the walk 10/11 days max. Has anyone done it in that timeframe. And we’d be interested in what towns you stopped. Distances etc By that I mean did you walk further some days because you wanted to be in a bigger or historical town
Kind regards Andrew

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Hi!
Is that because of time constraints or because you choose that time frame?
We can be flexible. But yeah I’d like to do it 10/11 days. We are both strong walkers. As I said I’d like to hear from people that’s done it for that time. Maybe spend more time in certain places because of historical significance etc

Hi Andrew!
I took much longer than you are anticipating back in 2021. (27 days in total)

My walking days were around 20km a day but i wanted as they say to smell the rose's :) So had several stop overs/rest days to explore were i stayed.
My favorite was Porto lots to do and a great atmosphere worth a couple of days stay before walking.
Walking out along the Douro to the sea and the boardwalks was a wonderful start.
I also had extra days in Viana do Castelo, Baiona (3 great days), Combarro (great stop .on the Spiritual Variant) and Santiago.

If you can add the Spiritual Variant i highly recommend it ;my absolute highlight on the Coastal it can be done in the same time frame as the central from Pontevedra.
The Spiritual was wonderful and varied Combarro, Armentiera and the Pilgrim boat from Villa Nova de Arousa to Padron was great.
Have a wonderful walk
Buen Camino

Thanks woody. Oh you’ve got my attention on the spiritual variant. I shall definitely do that. This is what I’m looking for hidden gems people have really enjoyed.

What is the spiritual variant? I have been wanting to hike the Camino for years and this is probably going to be my only one so I want it to be wonderful. I am hiking from Porto in April

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi! It starts as you head out of Pontevedra at about 3km;the Variant starts on the left over a small bridge with a massive sign!
Here is a link to Gronze in Spanish but google chrome translates to English!

The Coastal has joined the central by Redondela after Pontevedra is the Espiritual Variant.

You can find the GPX track for the Variant here

Start on the gronze stage from Porto and progress through the stages and it will all make sense i hope :)
Best of Luck
Buen Camino
Woody Excuse my language i was tired

Morning woody.
Question regarding the pilgrim boat. Did you have to book it in advance. Or are they plenty boats available
Andrew

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Andrew!
You can contact companies regarding bookings the only thing i would say about booking is if you can wait till a couple of days or the day before if your going to so your Camino is not fixed by that date.

The trip takes about an hour and 15 mins and lands at Pontecessures about 3 km from Padron.

Also the one i used Bahia Sub gave me the tide time on the day i wanted to sail as the boats are reliant on the tides.
So dependent on this you might have to wait till later in the day.

My thinking on this is if you are pushed for time this might mean adding a day (early morning sailing would mean you could make Santiago that day at a push)
There is more than one company that does the trip i used this one

La Translatio / La Barca del Pergrino / Naviera Bahia Sub
tel : 00 34 607 911 523
naviera@bahiasub.com
https://www.labarcadelperegrino.com/

Contacted them by email spoke to Olga however i got a ticket from their office on the day before sailing (get it the day before) i just walked into their office which is just to the right of the long footbridge into Villa Nova de Arousa; the boat landing is about 100 mtres to the left of the same footbridge and the dock building has a huge yellow arrow across it you cant miss it.
Oct 8th when i went the boat was busy it carries 150 Pilgrims ,but the other companies are there to use.

Translatio Xacobea / Tours Rías Baixas
tel : 00 34 680 733 990
info@toursriasbaixas.com
https://www.toursriasbaixas.com
This uses a ridged speedboat and the one i wanted but newbie snafu i got it wrong!!!
Amare Turismo Náutico
tel : 00 34 650 410 322 + 650 410 323
info@amareturismonautico.com

This company has good reviews to!
This is the bridge to Villa Nova de Arousa (not Viana do Castelo) the office is after the gap in the buildings to the right of the bridge.
Hope this helps
