LIVE from the Camino Camino De Santiago beginning in Leon

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
During 10 caminos I, too, enjoyed staying with the nuns. Perhaps you will find this recent thread re Leaving Leon to be of interest as you continue on your way. Whichever route you choose to follow Buen camino!

Congrats on doing 10 Caminos. Found it a bit boring and not too scenic. But as I have read it’s all part of the Camino experience. cheers Chris.

Did the nuns make you go to the evening service? It is a lovely albergue and the Griffin bar in the square is excellent.
Buen Camino!

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Starting the morning with a donativo breakfast (donation breakfast) Left the albergue at 7.15 and after a bit of stop start found the signs for the way you have to keep your eyes peeled for the clam shells, arrows, yellow and grey or the triangles in the footpath. After 24 kilometres and 27200 steps and listening to the Bulldogs win their first game, arrived at San Martin del Camino around 14.30 and the Santa Ana albergue which cost 7 Euros for the night. First day and feet a bit sore, so will see how I go tomorrow weather forecast looks good, fingers crossed. Family with me all the way if not physically in spirit

Left San Martin at 7.30, and had some breakfast at Hospital De Orbigo. Very windy all day and mostly a head wind with the backpack acting like a sail, either holding you back, pushing you forward or blowing you sideways. Made it to Astorga after 23 kilometers and 28207 steps. Staying at Siervas de Maria Albergue for 7 Euros. Better scenery today and a great stop off at La Casa de los Dioses where the guy stays and sleeps 24/7 and has food etc for a donation. Also the cross where peregrinos place stones to unburden themselves of their troubles. There are some big stones there

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Left Astorga at around 7. Made it to Rabanal del Camino, 21 kilometers and 22741 steps. Another very windy day that challenged walking straight and dropped the temperature dramatically. Had a coffee at Santa Catalina de Somoza and as I was as walking in Men at Work, I come from a land down under was playing. Very appreciate Photos from El Ganso, very old church and stone wall. Booked into La Senda Albergue for 10 Euros. Nice place. See how the feet go tomorrow, got a couple of blisters.

Chris, thanks for the updates. Nice to see the old juice bar again, that used to be run by David from Brazil a few years back. I hope the blisters improve overnight and good luck up and over the hill...

Thanks Tom, minus 1 at the moment and just having some breakfast. Hopefully blisters don’t bother me. Cheers

Left Rabanal de Camino around 7.30 and outside temperature was -1. Today is the high point literally as we go over the mountains at 1515 meters. Sometimes if you don’t take the opportunity to look back you might miss a spectacular sunrise. Absolutely brilliant day light breeze compared to the two previous days a blessing. Left the rock I brought from home at Puerto Irago Cruz de Ferro (The Iron Cross) you can see the big mound of rocks that peregrinos leave to unburden themselves. I should’ve brought a bigger rock Joking. Made it to Molinaseca and staying at Albergue Compostela 12 Euros. Did some washing in a machine for the first time in a few weeks

Thank you so much for your updates and photos! My first Camino was last year: SJPP to Leon. I'm now planning my next Camino: Leon to Santiago de Compostela. Your observations are very helpful. Thanks again!!

Left Molinaseca around 7.45. I think everyone slept in a bit after the decent from the mountain which takes a toll. Had breakfast in Ponferrada, and in hindsight I would like to have stayed the night as the Castillo de los Templarios (Knights Templar Castle) is there which I would suggest anyone who can plan their walk should The walk through Ponferrada is very pleasant with some of the track along the river which makes it very peaceful. Saw this big birds nest in Columbrianos near the church. Smart piece of work. Just outside of Camponaraya walking through the vineyards came across these beautiful old world vines which must produce some magnificent vino tinto (red wine) Staying at La Gallega Albergue in Cacabelos for 14 Euros, and a very nice place. Today 20 kilometres and 23445 steps.

Unfortunately the blister and the lost toe nail have meant a change of plans. Coming down the mountain really aggravated the blister so on to plan B. Got the bus back to Ponferrada and did a tour of the Knight’s Templar Castle. Then tomorrow getting a bus to Santiago. Not the way I wanted to get there but that’s life. Even after doing multiple kilometres in the hiking shoes you’d think they would have settled in. Hopefully everyone else has better luck. Buen Camino.

You have already made up your mind on this, but you can buy these "tubes" of toe bandages ithe pharmacy. That might help if you can find some. Otherwise, you know what is best and what you need.

Chris, I'm really sorry to hear about your injuries and I'm sure you know best, but this does sound quite drastic! Could you not recuperate in Ponferrada a couple of days, try JW's bandages plus any other remedies that forum members recommend, and then restart from Sarria?
I'm unclear whether you've done Sarria-Santiago previously...
Best wishes, tom

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Thanks Tom. My original thought was to try from Sarria, but the skin keeps splitting and bleeding. If able I can go back to Sarria, but I have flights to consider as well. Thanks for the encouragement.

So sorry to hear about your troubles. On my last camino last year I had trouble with som deep blisters and took a rest day in Ponferrada where I visited a privat foot-therapist/podiatrist. He cleaned them out, taped me up, gave me a care rutine and ask me to take a day of - at the cost of 30 euro if I remember correctly. That helped a lot and I continued on to Santiago. Would highly recommend having a professional have a look and give advice.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
