hi all
am planning to bike the camino in october. Couple of questions. Is there a place where myself and some friends can hire out bikes for the duration of the trip and what would they cost? Also are there plenty of hostels on route or where do people normally stay?

hi chuck,

i passed through porto en route to tui for the last leg of the caminho portugues in july 2006. if i recall correctly, there were bikes for rent at the sao bento train station...but i'm not sure if they are available for intercity rental.

portugal has a great FREE community bike program called "BUGA" that might be worth looking into.

sorry i don't have more information - i remember looking at the bikes wondering if anyone rented them! (porto's hilly!) but at least it's a lead!
