Time of past OR future Camino
I am planning to walk the camino in the month of October 2014. Was wondering if anyone else is looking at doing it around that time
I'm going to be coming from Scotland and looking at starting 1st October.
Anyone else starting early around that time?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
NZjim,

Many of us have found autumn to be a GREAT time for walking! October days are generally gloriously sunny and nights cool; perfect walking weather. Also the crowds of summer have gone and space in albergues is easier to find.

Check out these earlier Forum topics for lots of helpful info; see September- October and walking in October- November.

Happy planning and Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

Buen camino, and enjoy the anticipation of a great adventure!
Thanks Cheynee. Gonna be a good challenge. 8 months in total away from home. Lots of places to visit, family and friends both old and new ones to meet up with.

It will be hard to predict the weather in October. In 2011 the weather was beautiful for most of October with sunny skies and warm temperatures (as high as 32C for almost a week), but the last week of October was rainy and cold (8C). I would (and will) prepare for any kind of weather in October. I'm returning in mid-September to walk from St.Jean to Santiago and look forward to the gentle light, the sunrises, and the landscapes in many shades of brown...and the cafe con leche...and so many other things. Be prepared for warm, cold, wet, dry weather, and you will be fine! :)
