Hello, Camino Family. I am Deborah and after reading all of the posts I feel I dare not call myself a pilgrim. Turning 60 this year; time for a bit of introspection. Little time, an even smaller amount of money (the Camino is not costly but the plane fare to the path is). Leaving behind apprehensive husband and daughters as I begin my trip in late September. I am trying to be sensitive to the concern my family has regarding my journey and my own spiritual needs by taking six days of solo walking and then joining a friend and a tour (don't judge me) on day seven.
I will land in Bilbao and then use ground transportation to begin my pilgrimage (albeit short)from Los Arcos to Burgos where I join the group which will walk/bus to Santiago. Could you with experience help me with your knowledge of ground transportation from Bilbao to Los Arcos?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi Deborah,

Welcome to the forum.
I'm not sure exactly how to get to Los Arcos.
Get bus 3247 from airport to Bus station in Bilbao
The website for buses is http://www.Alsa.es You need to look under regional buses. Go from Bilbao to Pamplona, remembering that Pamplona is 'Irun' in basque language.
You most probably get a small local bus to Los Arcos.

If you can book on line do as bus queues sometimes move very slowly esp if there are many people who cannot speak Spanish trying to make themselves understood.

Alternatively, You could get a bus from Bilbao to Logrono and maybe bus back to LosArcos

http://www.movelia.es is another website you might try.

Buen Camino

Lydia,
What a blessing, especially the realization of needing to know some Basque to get around.
Blessings

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Deborah,
No need to know Basque. Just to realise that signs are often written in both Basque and Spanish and the basque is written first.

Buen Camino

For those of you who are using the ATM colour chart. One bank is suggested at less than 2 Euro when in fact was 4.50 Euro per withdrawal
