I am thinking of walking the portuges camino as was wondering if many people had done this route, and the best place to start, i have the book the information on place to stay etc is not that good and a bit difficult to follow at times. I would be grateful for any information or help as I am planning to go in the next few weeks before it get too hot thanks catherine.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
It depends how long you have as to the best place to start. With 5 to 6 days then from Valenca or Tui is comfortable with either Albergues or hotels in convenient locations each stage. I haven't got personal experience of the stages prior to Valenca but I understand that there are Albergues along the route. If you post back how long you have planned to walk and where you intend to fly into I'm sure you will get plenty of further information on stages, distance, accommodation etc. for the route you are taking.

We walked from Porto last October and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are albergues along the way and hotels in all of the towns. You can download a guide from the Confraternity of Saint James at their website, http://bit.ly/m9TRVN. This organization has begun posting and they appear to be an excellent resource. Hello,

Since last year all journey have good accommodation for peregrinos, i mean Albergues.
I advise to you is to start walking in Maia, you can get there by metro. And its easy to find the camino,
if you start in Valença you will miss the best of Camino Portugues

You can find more information in our website http://www.alberguederates.com
