Casa Manolo and Botifumerio

Casa Manolo

Having read the foregoing restaurant 'reviews' I really must put in a plea for my favourits, the famous pilgrim restaurant, the Casa Manolo in Plaza Cervantes. I have dined there both alone and in company on about ten occasions. The menu is varied, the three courses filling, the coffee and wine (extra cost) worth affording, the quality very good, the service prompt and cheerful and the cost amazingly low. This is not to deny the worth of other eating establishments in the town.

I have at times a poor memory, as it appears do other pilgrims. I always forget it does not open until eight-thirty and thus usually arrive at its doors at eight and join a group of others, likewise too early. I further forget it is closed Sunday evening. I therefore ate Sunday before last at a restaurant slightly closer to the Cathedral, I believe it was called the 'Botifumerio' (or did I imagine that). The food and service were good and a few other pilgrims were there, but it did lack the Manolo's pilgrim buzz. Excited 'Compostellates' chatting, in a multitude of languages, about the gruelling miles they have walked, always seem to fill the Manolo's dining room . Great Stuff!!

Hello, my shoes are pretty down and worn out now with holes in it. As it is rainy these days I won’t make it to Fisterra with dry feet. Can you recommend a good shop for shoes in Santiago...
