hi,

We are taking the train from Madrid to Leon, and then have a quick change for the Astorga train.

Is Leon a large station with many platforms?

We only have 7 minutes to find the right platform for the Astorga train....

Can't find any information online about the station layout and what trains leave from what platforms....

adif manages Spains railway infrastructure.
Here is adif info about Leon Renfe Station. Clik the link for 'plano de la estacion'.

That's a great map, whariwharangi. Looks like Robo will come in on track 2 or 4 and have to make his way over to track 3. I am sure you will have enough time, this must be a scheduled transfer.

Yes. It's a scheduled transfer. But it will help to know here we are going rather than stumble around like lost sheep

You shouldn't have a problem with a transfer as long as you can carry your stuff. Just up a stair and down a stair. The Leon train station is pretty simple. If you see a conductor, ask for the transfer platform, They usually know in advance
