Chiropractors in towns or cities along the Camino.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I do not think they go by that name in Spain. There is a superb massage/physical therapy guy with offices in Leon and Sahagun who uses chiropractic technique when it is warranted -- his name is David, a former pilgrim who has done wonders for many a footsore traveler. IM me for phone no., etc. if you are interested.

Hi,

It seems that chiropractics has only recently arrived in Spain. Here is a link to the chiropractic association page where you can search for practitioners by province etc. There are definitely a couple in Pamplona but I don't see León on their list, unfortunately. However I have found someone who seems to offer message and chiropractic treatment in both León and Sahagún. There are also a number of physiotherapists, some also offering osteopathy, in León. It seems that Grupo FisioClinicas has a number of other practices, including one in Astorga and another in Ponferrada, so that could be good to know for maintenance down the line.

For future info, el quiropráctico is the chiropractor and la quiropractica is the treatment type.
El fisioterapeuta is the physiotherapist while la fisioterapia is physiotherapy.
El osteópata is the osteopath and la osteopatía is osteopathy.
El masajista is the massage therapist and el mesaje is a massage.

Link to site offering massage /chiropractic treatment in León and Sahagún: http://masajescaminodesantiago.com/tag/quiropractico-en-leon/ This guy seems to come highly recommended, judging by comments on a previous thread that I just found: http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/remedial-massage-along-the-camino.17668/

For anyone who has not passed Villatuerta, I can personally recommend Miguel, owner of the Casa Magica albergue there. Excellent theraputic massage and great insights for those who are open to them: http://alberguevillatuerta.com/ (The albergeue is a real gem too!)

I can also personally recommend an incredible physiotherapist called José (who also works on an energetic level, if the client is open to it). Although I met him in Sarria, I think he also practiced in Santiago. Without him, I would not have made it to Santiago. (And guess whom I just happened to bump into at dinner my first night in Santiago...:) ) Unfortunately, I can't find him right now...sorry!

Sorry that I did not see your posts sooner, but I hope that some of this information will be of help to you. If nothing else, you can insert the various therapies into your search engine together with a town name, and hopefully you'll find someone who meets your needs.

I truly feel for you. I was advised not to go much more than 15kms per day, and while it took me a long time, I did make it all the way to Santiago. I hope you get the support you need to keep going, if that's what's best for you.

¡Buen Camino!

Maria
