Well we're still plodding our way slowly along the camino with recent stays in Viana, Navarette, Nájera and this evening at Cirueña at Albergue Victoria which is lovely and we received a very warm welcome. I'm taking the "sin gluten" option for dinner tonight.

Tomorrow will be a rest day and we'll just walk the 4 miles into Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

My rucksack has broken which I'm quite annoyed about and I pulled a muscle in my shoulder yesterday struggling with it all day so today I did something I've never done before and had it transported ahead. It was good to rest my shoulder by travelling light though and worth every cent of the 5 euros I paid for the bag transfer.

I've spotted a few forum badges along the way and it's been good to chat to Pilgrim Leo, Roncesvalles (Derek), Georgio and his wife and Robert Gordon

Greetings wildplace! Ciruena. Strange place. But loved the Albergue Virgin de Guadeloupe.
Hope you can get your pack fixed...what a drag! But it's almost all downhill for you tomorrow. (I look forward to doing that stretch it again as the day I went that way it was a white-out and I couldn't see more than 20 or 30 feet in the fog.)
Buen Camino to all of you out there!

There is a good outdoor shop on the corner of calle el pinar and calle hilario perez in Santo domingo...if you need to replace your bag

if you stand in the middle of the little square facing the Parrador then look left ..that alley way is Calle Hilario Perez walk along 2nd corner on your right...was there open early this summer...hopefully its not shut down like some shops in santo domingo

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thanks for the advice on the pack, I didn't replace it in Santo Domingo as I am only walking as far as Burgos this trip. Am at Belorado tonight and plan to arrive Burgos on the 29th. I carried it for the short distance from Cirueña to Santo Domingo yesterday and got it transported today and will for the next few days until Burgos.

When I get home a letter will be going to Berghaus - I feel sure that a metal piece should not fail! It's the part that clips in to the back adjustment.

I won't actually be home for a few weeks as I will travel from Burgos to Santiago and am booked on a 3 week intensive Spanish course - something I've always wanted to do. I'm looking forward to my three weeks in Santiago!

Take it to the shop and they will send it back even if its out of warranty as long as it not years old.decent outdoor shops have a no quibble returns policy, they just send it back....a pack that got threw there QC checks maybe.....be interested in what they Wildpalce..

information
most bags fail when loaded if a user keeps dragging the pack up from the floor via one of its shoulder straps....civilian packs need more TLC.. buy lifting first from the haul hoop.to bring it help assist it onto the shoulder strap.....
