Coastal camino

Hi,
My name is Dan and my daughter and I will be walking the Coastal route from Porto. We will be arriving March 31. Will getting a place to stay be a problem during Holy Week? We were thinking of walking the Spiritual Variant as well.
Thought and suggestions would be helpful.

Arriving where on Mar 31? Porto or SdC?

Holy Week can be crowded but it’s all in the timing. If you do not plan to arrive Good Friday - Easter Sunday, you won’t be in the “bubble” of those walking with that plan. I recently booked a room in an SdC hostel for Holy Saturday with no problem, so even if you do arrive that weekend there is still space. With the Cathedral under renovation, numbers will likely be down a bit, too.

The usual caveats always apply: don’t stop at guidebook suggested end-spots and if you are walking in a crowd, slow down or speed up so you leave it. Buen Camino

Well you’ll be walking with me then! We also arrive in Porto on March 29, but won’t start walking the Central route until the 31st.

You are a lucky man to be walking with your best gal! I am begging my kids to walk with me one day. I have a one vague commitment so far. I think you should, and probably have booked in Porto already. You could just scan places on bookings. to get an idea. If you want to wing it make sure you have a few sources of places to stay. Gronze.com Brierly, Buen Camino app to name a few. Gronze.com is free and can be translated on Google Chrome. Buen Camino is a free app. The more sources you have the more choices you have for a bed. A large number of the wonderful Portuguese people can speak English. So the night before if you seem to be having problems call ahead for the next day to book something. Have fun
