Leaving USA Week of June 12
Home after an amazing walk on the Camino. i want to thank everybody on the forum for their great questions and great answers for all us newbies. St Jean to Santiago in 29 days and only one half of a day did we walk in some drizzle of rain. The weather was great. It got warm, (40 degrees) for about 5 days straight. That's all. Saw a couple people with forum patches. Yeah California. Boots and walking time schedules would be my two highest concerns for anybody that hasn't walked it.
Thanks again everybody.

Same question here! I've read so much conflicting info on whether to even go with boots, or instead opt for a mid-rise shoe/boot hybrid, or something as simple as a trail runner. I'm in first stages of planning but I'm trying to do it as quickly as possible- I'd like to leave sooner than later even though I know many people take even a year to plan. So glad you had an amazing walk Coachj!

Congratulations and welcome home! Are you finding it hard to slip back into your old life?

Regarding footwear there is no right answer. Its a long walk on hard sometimes rough surfaces. You are slapping those beauties down at least 25000 times per day. Its pretty rare to step into anything deeper than the sole so boots or shoes; doesn't really matter.

The critical factor is that your footwear fits well and provides good support.

I found I couldn't make any reservation in SJPP in the coming days. They are fully booked. I can't find even a single bed. What should I do? Is there anybody has a same situation?
Roncesvalles or push to Burguete? I prefer to avoid the recommended stages to avoid the race for albergues. Do you suggest Burguete? Is Roncesvalles too busy?
