Has anyone read or seen Compostelle: Recettes du chemin by Anne-Marie Minivelle and Sophie Brissaud?
http://www.amazon.fr/dp/2732467367/

A friend of mine walked with me a few days from Paris and he's a trained chef who speaks Italian, Spanish, several Italian and Caribbean dialects, and some German. He understands some French but wants to improve before he goes back to continue walking and I was thinking this might be a good gift for him, but I was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on it. Thanks.

EDIT I wasn't sure where best to post this, since it's not exactly a "pilgrim" book, but feel free to move it if you think it should be there.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I discovered this book when checking on your link, just wanted to say it looks lovely and the 2 commentaries are full of praise. Looks like a great present to me but hey, what do I know, I just love cookery books! :)

Indeed Compostelle Recettes appears to be a very handsome presentation and the credentials of the authors are first rate! Additionally your chef/friend might also enjoy increasing his practical French vocabulary while reading the following article filled with tips on how and what to eat while hiking the camino. http://www.stjacquespassion.com/archives/2011/10/09/22285913.html

Bon appetit and Buen camino!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Thanks, domigee and mspath, and thanks especially for the link.

I think I'm going to go ahead and order it. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.

The Amazonblurb says the book is a "photo documentary" with the adition of 50 local recipes from the Camino. Not a recipe book, first amd foremost. So a great gift for a Compostelian who enjoys cooking, more than for a chef from a Compostelian, so a good choice if you ask me. A mix of French and Spanish dishes, from the moddle ages to now. A good choice if you ask me. And thank you fo the heads up about the book.

Thanks, Anemone. I went ahead and ordered it. I figure he can always regift it to me if he doesn't like it.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Just updating this to say I received the book and it looks just swell, but it came shrink-wrapped, so I haven't been able to read any of it. I gift-wrapped it right away to avoid the temptation to rip off the cellophane and have a read before Christmas.

Seems to be a lot of people posting about stuff they lost on the Camino recently. I managed to leave a nice new-ish polo shirt somewhere drying and didn't notice for over a week. I hope someone...
Did you meet Bjørn Krohn? Died aged 48 in an albergue, I don't know where, tuesday 21th. I didn't know this until now.
I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
