I start the Camino Portugues from Lisbon on 29/30 August and was wondering if I'll need to take a light coat with me. I would appreciate if anyone with experience with walking at this time of year could give me their advice.

Generally speaking, you'll not need a coat on that time of the year. It is important to have a light long sleeve T and a fleece jacket (just in case) but not more than that.

I would be more worried with hot weather than cold weather! :p
 
So not the Portugues but the CF in mid September to October in 2014 I walked in temps from 3°C to 41°C according to the temperature signs at the farmacias. And yes comfortable in the 3° wearing a light fleece.
