I am hoping to start the Portugues from Porto in mid September. Looking to walk through to Finisterre. Are most services available through the end of September, first of October? Weather ok? Many pilgrims? Thanks!

Did the same route in September 2019, weather was great even a little warm at the start but not too hot. First day of rain was second day out of Santiago on way to Muxia, that day stopped early and ended up in an 900 year old Albergue with an open fire and the grand mother cooking a communal dinner washed down with 5 euro bottles of wine.

Plenty of Pilgrims around, busy time of the year and picks up a little closer to Santiago. Really nice towns and villages along the way(Central route), enjoy your journey.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I did the Central from Lisbon last year starting 31st August, arriving in Porto on the 15th September. The weather was perfect, obviously getting rainier and cooler towards Santiago de Compostela and the end of the month. Arriving on the 28th September, all albergues were open and quite busy from Porto, obviously quieter before then. There is quite a notable rise in pilgrims from Porto, so you should be fine for company, and yes, shops, services, etc are open.

Bom Caminho

I walked in the first half of October 2018 and didn't notice any shortage of infrastructure or pilgrims. Weather was into the 30s C at the beginning of the walk but cooled down to nicer weather by the end.

I am starting from Porto september 21st. Maybe our ways will cross :)
I am
starting from Porto on September 15th. Wondering where is a good place to stay in Porto on the 14th. ☺️ AcadieJD
