Hi I'll be in Porto for a couple of days and then will take the bus to Barcelos or Ponte de Lima and walk from there. Where should I get a credential from? If I get one from Porto cathedral but don't actually walk from there is that OK? Also I have a 2016 Brierley guide. Is it worth taking or out of date? What's the best online guide/maps please? Thanks!

Get your credential in the Porto Sé cathedral, take the bus to Barcelos and start walking from there. After 18 kms you will arrive at the best albergue of your entire caminho , Casa da Fernanda in Vitorino dos Piães ( 3 kms after the village of Balugães). Don't miss it. Your Brieley book will do. Just follow the yellow waymarkers and go with the flow.
Bom caminho

Take the outdated Brierly guide with you. I walked between Lisbon and Santiago last year in Apr & Oct, used the 2016 edition, was fine. If you need more up to date info on albergues: http://www.vialusitana.org/caminho-portugues/albergues/ Walked without any gadgets on me, no internet or online maps, doable as the route is well marked and the terrain is easy. Bom Camino!

Hello!

My Brierley guide is also from 2016 and it worked just fine for me last October, it was still updated and anyway you have a lot of waymarking, easy to follow.

Buen Camino, have fun!

@Jude Douglas you can also get your credential before you leave home. Your local pilgrim group possibly and @ivar also has them in the forum store here.
