Credential surprise

4 ladies from Canada, we arrived in Santiago earlier this month and proceeded from the cathedral get our compostela. As we entered a very kind gentleman asked if we were a group, and advised that for 4 or more we could leave our names and credentials at the office and come back the next day to pick up. One person gave their name. It worked so easily and we avoided the 2 hour stand in line ( experienced the year before). A pleasant surprise after a 2 week Camino that was also flawless!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
It has always been like this. When the office was at it's previous location there was a small office next to the maoin entrance for this purpose only. Mind you, you still got your credencial on the spot, no need to wait for the next day back then.

Many people who met along the way take advantage of this short queue even if they are not really a group.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

That´s exactly what we did and we were asked to come back after lunch.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I loved waiting in line. It had about the same feeling as waiting in line with your buddies for your high school diploma! Plus, we made friends that later walked to Fistera and Muxia with us. It's all part of the fun, the experience.
