Crossing from Caminha

Hi I'm in caminha just now and have been told because of the weather the ferry won't be going until noon tomorrow I don't have time to walk up the river to the bridge crossing bit of a long shot but is there any other pilgrims wishing to cross early tomorrow morning maybe we could share a taxi

Ask for Mario o Pescador. -the fisherman- he sets you over for 5€ each person
You will find him at the campingsite/hotel /restaurant when you enter Caminha at the left side There is a small beach where he can land with his fishingboat. From there it is 5 minutes sailing to the Spanish side of the river. I was there last friday and saw him there

I went to the ferry terminal to see if there was any other pilgrims there and lucky enough there was a local there with a motorboat who took 4 of us over for 5 euros each

I don't know if it was or not but I was so glad he was there.If anyone else ever has a problem with the ferry I'd advise them to go to the terminal and go into the bar there it was the young guy behind the bar that introduced me to bloke who took us over

I like to support local entrepreneurs, Does Mario O pescador have room for 4 bikes and 4 people? make 2 trips?

The person who took me over had me along with 3 other guys with their bikes on his boat probably could've fitted another bike after reading other threads I don't think it was mario as he's described as an older gent this guy wasn't and he picks you up at the ferry terminal at caminha and drops you at ferry terminal on the other side.I don't know if he only operates when the ferry is off My advice would be go to the ferry terminal and enquire at the bar
