We all know how walking the Camino deletes any connection with reality, we know the calendar ceases to exist. However, the Day of Atonement begins on Tuesday evening, fast don't fast just know it's coming down.

Some years ago on the Primitivo, I was walking with a small posse of pilgrims, one of whom was from the US south and an observant Jew, as Yom Kippur happened. This was on the long (30km) stretch into Lugo, and he determined that he would observe the fast. Two young German women in the posse decided to abstain from food (I don't know if they abstained from water) to support him. Later that evening, resting in my hotel room, I listened to the local university radio play The Electric Prunes' Kol Nidre.

Kind of related and not
I shoot photos here at work...keeping people honest you know..prima facia evidence and all.
Two of our clients came together in one of THOSE hugs
I shot them in the heartfelt embrace and only later learned what happened
His first cousin had gone home to Jerusalem 4 times on the doctors advice on his cancer stricken Mama
This time on the hectic flight to the home she went home to her God
And the heartbreak was plan to see on the tears of two grown men

They exchanged words and i sent the decidedly not good looking snapshots to them as a fare the well reminder
The sadness puts a peach pit in my throat for them
He dried a tear..yet smiled because it was his family here as the rest are so far away.
I am a lucky man..i get to see humanity at its most vulnerable..and finest sometimes through my lens.

I hope your journeys are blessed
