...who had his appendix out in Pamplona? We started on April 11 in SJPP, and walked to Orison. Folks in SJPP said that it was too dangerous to go over the Pyrenees route, but we had already made our reservation and the albergue owner said he would drive us around to Valcarlos if we wanted. So we went, and I am so glad we did. The albergue owner had been digging through the snow daily to make a safe route. Since the day was very clear the next morning most of us elected to walk over the mountain together, rather than take the drive over to Valcarlos he offered. It was a beautiful day and we made it safely.

Several days later we arrived in Pamplona, but one of my friends was not feeling well. It turned out to be appendicitis. At the University Hospital he had it removed by laproscopic surgery. After a couple of days he told the rest of us to go on and he would meet us when he was better. We did.

Ten days later we met him in Burgos. He had taken the train there. We needed a rest day, but after that, he walked on with us all the way to Santiago, then on to Finisterre. Oh, and we are all in our 60s...

I wonder what surgery and hospital stay cost him?
I buy travel medical insurance, but when I went to see the doctor in Spain, he said not to worry about fees, but to pray for him in Santiago.
