Frances hope to do Le Puy to St John Pied Porte 2015
Just want to warn of dangerous dogs about 1k out of St Privat.
My wife was attacked and was badly bitten blood poured out. 3 collie dogs were involved. Would urge extreme caution.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I am so sorry this happened and I hope she will be okay. I also hope you were able to report it to the authorities.

I am so sorrin a state of shock. Heard from a fellow pilgrim that helped us tha day it seems there was a second attack a few days later which was reported. Do hope the authorities take action. this happened and I hope she will be okay. I also hope you were able to report it to the authorities.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Very sorry this happened to your wife, and it must have traumatised you too. I hope you are both getting over it and able to enjoy the rest of your walk. It is pretty unusual to have dogs attach pilgrims but I guess the VĂ©zeley route is less travelled than most so landowners may be less likely to have their dogs restrained. It would be good if you can take the time to notify the police and the local Amis de St Jacques (even when you get home) of what happened, with as much location information as possible. They may be able to identify and talk to the owner of the dogs.

I think BobMar left from Le Puy en Velay, so he is speaking of St. Privat d'Allier.

There are more loose dogs in France than Spain in my experience. I have had to deal with about a dozen over the years. Spanish authorities apparently enforce "leash laws" more diligently to preserve the pilgrim trade.

OK, post is in the wrong thread. I will move it to the Le Puy section.
