The French way 2018
Portugal from Lisbon 2023
Hi I am new to this forum and the posts seem very helpful.
I walked the French way in 2018 and I am finally doing the Portuguese way in August/Sept 23. Covid sort of left all my plans in disarray. I was wondering has anyone taken the Fatima way on the Camino . I have to go to Fatima anyway but is it a worthwhile walk or should I catch a bus for the day from one of the towns on route.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Not sure where you're planning to start, though my advice would be to get back to the Português via Tomar following the Caminho de Fátima Nacente, and stay at the Albergue in Fungalvaz between them. The restaurant there is great.

I am starting in Lisbon. Should I go from Santarem to Fatima then to Tomar ?

I walked the Caminho do Tejo, then took the bus to Tomar to continue on the Camino Portuguese. You could also do it the way you suggest, walking to Tomar then taking the bus to the Sanctuary at Fatima and returning that evening or the next day. Or you can do as @JabbaPapa suggests, and walk from Fatima to Tomar.

Here is a link to observations I have made on the forum about my pilgrimage. I am happy to answer any specific questions you might have here.

Thanks Doug
Just a quick question. The weather in the third week of August,is it still very hot ? I would love to walk in May but I can't get the time off then.

I have always walked in spring and early summer. I expect that temperatures would still be high at the end of summer, but I don't have specifics. You might find more information at the ipma.pt site.

edited to add the link to the ipma.pt site.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
