Feast of the Ascension date 2016

Time of past OR future Camino
Have completed through Agosta
In the US this Feast day will be celebrated on Sunday 8 May, rather than the actual day of Thursday 5 May. I may be in Santiago around this time after completing the Camino. Does anyone know when it will be celebrated in Spain?
Thank you

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi Tom - Ascensión is the Feria of Santiago with special Street lights, entertainment, concerts and a weekend of celebration. It is a public holiday for the city. This is quite apart from church celebrations. The Solemnity of the Feast is celebrated on the Sunday: http://www.revistaecclesia.com/cuan...semana-santa-2016-sera-del-20-al-27-de-marzo/

If you are looking to the cathedral in Santiago the main celebration with procession with medieval instruments and the botafumeiro at the start of the Mass is often held at the 10am mass rather than the Pilgrims' Mass - check on the Cathedral's website nearer the time.

I hope this helps.

John

And for anyone else walking during this time, be sure to keep in mind many services will be closed for Ascension Thursday. Always good to keep this in mind to get supplies (food, money) before this day so as to not be left in a bind. Thursday, May 5th.
